A thought on 'cultural' events, and finding city money for them - the sister city concept could be exploited. I looked into this once, for this very purpose, to try to bring a musical act from Christchurch, NZ. There is money there.

Here's the list. Are any of your favorite DJs from these places?
* Beer Sheva, Israel
* Bergen, Norway
* Cebu, Philippines
* Chongqing, China
* Christchurch, New Zealand
* Galway, Ireland
* Gdynia, Poland
* Haiphong, Vietnam
* Kaohsiung, Taiwan
* Kobe, Japan
* Limbe, Cameroon
* Mazatlan, Mexico
* Mombasa, Kenya
* Nantes, France
* Pecs, Hungary
* Perugia, Italy
* Reykjavik, Iceland
* Sihanoukville, Cambodia
* Surabaya, Indonesia
* Taejon, Korea
* Tashkent, Uzbekistan

I can't believe Danny Wang has never played here. His sets are super-fun; one of the things I miss most about NYC (even after ten years). There's an achived one up here (you have to scroll down a few entries—look for that same photo as in your blog entry).

So many dead DJs though... As far as the living, yeah, I would have to say Danny Tenaglia, despite the fact I don't care much for his style of music anymore, I'd still pay good money to see him. I've yet to check out Low Budget. And... I guess I'd like to see a Cocoa T DJ set.
