I’d just like to make it public that I’m betting the “Very Special Guests” at KEXP’s BBQ are either The Gossip or Wolfmother. A source close to Line Out (and closer to KEXP than I am) thinks it’ll be The Long Winters. Anyone else got an idea?

1

they already announced the long winters are playing, silly!

there are 2 other surprise bands. i'm hoping it will be the smiths.

2

I'm guessing Thee Emergency as one of the surprise guests, based on some looking around for clues.

3

I could see it being the Gossip but, I don't think Wolfmother is going to be flying up here from Austrailia to open for Ghostland Observatory on a surprise bill? Especially RIGHT before their European tour. Both would be cool tho.

4

Jedd- Wolfmother played Endfest yesterday. Last year the special guest was The Go Team!, who had played a show at Neumo's the night before. It only takes a day to fly to Europe, and they don't play their first date until Wednesday.

5

I didn't know they played Endfest.

My bad.

6

Thee Emergency and Devotchka. Promise.

7

Well done, Hannah! Considering the BBQ had already started...

It was a fucking blast, BTW.

8

Yeah, whatever Keenan...your sarcasm is touching, but I wasn't at the BBQ; I had just gotten back into town and online.

9

Don't be mad, it was said with a smile...

I'm new to the Lineout here.

But whoa. What is up with Hannah Levin? Is this really how Stranger writers treat each other? Keenan makes a valid point and Hannah just snaps his head off. Ouch. Bitch-eee. Good thing she's not entreched. No wonder she's pissed / her column sux and she writes like she's writing for a highschool yearbook!! Nice going Keenan, I'm glad you called that boring biatch out!!!

11

That's "entrenched" ... not entreched

transitive verb
1 a : to place within or surround with a trench especially for defense b : to place (oneself) in a strong defensive position

intransitive verb
2 : to enter upon or take over something unfairly, improperly

for journalists - meaning they have their job because they have been there longer, even though they are lame as shit.

Keenan--I obviously misinterpreted your tone. Reason number 1,237 why the lack of nuance available in the context of blog comments alternately saddens and frustrates me. Glad you had a good time--sounds like a lot of people did.

Daja--Welcome to Line Out. a) I don't think politely clarifying (as Keenan did)is "calling the biatch(sic) out," b) I've had this job for six months, and c) I'd be hurt, but you used an "x" when you spelled "sucks," so the high school references don't really fly. Furthermore, only Seling gets away with using three exclamation points in a row.

13

I will spell how I want. I'm not afraid of you or your even more highschool style writing sidekick Seling...

14

"I will spell how I want."

If you put that on a t-shirt, Daja, I will wear it.

Also, I wouldn't be afraid of me either.

xo,
megan
