Nice write-up on Arthur Lee. I don't see any mention of "Talk Talk". Surely one of Love's best. To try and rank the best of psychedelia (musically) is difficult at a minimum, but how 'bout "Piper at he Gates of Dawn" from Pink Floyd or my fave "S.F Sorrow" by the Pretty Things. A lot of that era's psychedelic stuff is embarrassingly dated, but some of it has worn well.
Contact me! I hope all is well in Seattle
Cheers

God bless YouTube: if you search for Arthur Lee on their site, there is a fair amount of Love video I have never seen before, uncluding a 1966 appearance on American Bandstand doing several tunes, these promo videos (like "Your Mind.." and others). Great stuff I never knew existed.

Are you the Terry Reilly from Michigan? If so, great to hear from you.

"Talk Talk"? That's the Music Machine hit. Do you mean Love's "7 & 7 Is?" That is probably one of the first--and finest--garage-punk songs ever; so much concentrated power and angst.

Piper and SF Sorrow have definitely stood the test of time. I still regularly listen to both. I also highly recommend Hawkwind's self-titled debut album.
Oy, don't get me started on this subject... I'll be here all day.
