I missed the Decibel panel discussion today... did Segal rail against all things digital? Was there any violence? Is Dave getting an MP3 player now? Tonight: Yann Novak, Kamran Sadeghi, Richard Chartier, Taylor Deupree, Foscil, Subtle... etc, etc....

Fighting digital hegemony in the entertainment world is futile. I don't use a manual typewriter nor a chisel and tablet. There may be a Zune in my future.

I would like to see digital and analog formats continue to coexist, forever and ever, amen.

The panel discussion was mostly interesting, though a couple of people in the audience fell asleep. We panelists concluded that anarchy, communal chatter, content clutter, record-company panic, conflicting opinions, disgruntled, ripped-off musicians, etc. were all rampant. We mostly agreed that some people still appreciate packaging with their music and that radio, print media, blogs, last.fm, Pandora, and your friends are all crucial ways to learn about new music.

At one point, moderator Darek Mazzone asked the audience if people made playlists on their digital players for themselves and to share with their friends. Some people raised their hands. I said I would like to make playlists, too—for my enemies...
Thank you and goodnight.
