Juno Reunion: True.

The rumors are true—Juno is reuniting for two shows (December 9 and 10) to play the 2006 KEXP Yule Benefits at Neumo’s.
The shows haven’t been officially announced yet, which is why you won’t find info on the KEXP or Neumo’s websites, but I just bought a ticket for the December 9th show from TicketsWest ($23 with service charge), and it says right on it: JUNO. Tickets for the Dec 10 date are supposedly going on sale tomorrow, also through TicketsWest.
I am so excited.
As for the line-up of the two shows, well, my ticket just says Juno and Junior Boys on it. But I’ve heard whispers of Cold War Kids and Ted Leo and the Pharmacists too, so it’s hard to say who all will really be playing—we’ll just have to wait for KEXP to share the news. But really, all I need is Juno. The rest is just icing on the cake.
The show on the 9th is 21+, the show on the 10th is all-ages (balcony only).

Today is the happiest day ever.

GOT MY TIX!!! Amen on the happiest day ever! Thank you Megan!
Arlie's cheekbones!
What's so great about Juno? I'm not trying to be an asshole, I just want to know.
ya'know, my ex- was a huge fan and, i literally fell asleep at their shows. twice. then, one night they played an amazing cover of dj shadow's "high noon" (which can be found on a split 7" with the dismemberment plan) and, i finally "got it" i guess. i saw them numerous times over the next couple years and, they are always amazing live. their songs are just so epic!? intricate too and, beautiful. just not for those with a short attention span maybe?
oh yeah, i was also gonna say, i KNEW kexp had to have something to do with this. i can't imagine that john richard's kids named arlie by sheer coincidence..?
WHY I LIKE JUNO: The lyrics first. Then the presentation -- intense and epic live shows. They also employed a humble populist/hardcore approach to everything, all while being masters of many styles. (Primarily jagged post-punk and long, spacey soundscapes.) The time and place Juno occupied at the height of their powers was also conducive to loving them I think. Particularly in Seattle in the mid-late 90's, Juno made their music better than many others who were making theirs. AND they are cool, maaaan.
Yay. I want to know who's playing bass!
i believe one of the last times i saw them it was ben gibbard!?
It wasn't Ben, it was Nick Harmer, bassist for Death Cab. He played some of the bass parts on their second full-length. Nate Mendel did as well. For these shows, though, someone mentioned that Jason Lajuenesse will be playing bass. I haven't confirmed that with him, though. He played bass with Juno when they toured Japan in 2004, and he also played a number of Seattle shows.
oh. i wasn't really a fan of dcfc back then and, that's what someone told me..
I figured it would probably be Lajeunesse; he was the last one holding that seat, anyway.
This is going to be a great show!
