ya'know, my ex- was a huge fan and, i literally fell asleep at their shows. twice. then, one night they played an amazing cover of dj shadow's "high noon" (which can be found on a split 7" with the dismemberment plan) and, i finally "got it" i guess. i saw them numerous times over the next couple years and, they are always amazing live. their songs are just so epic!? intricate too and, beautiful. just not for those with a short attention span maybe?

WHY I LIKE JUNO: The lyrics first. Then the presentation -- intense and epic live shows. They also employed a humble populist/hardcore approach to everything, all while being masters of many styles. (Primarily jagged post-punk and long, spacey soundscapes.) The time and place Juno occupied at the height of their powers was also conducive to loving them I think. Particularly in Seattle in the mid-late 90's, Juno made their music better than many others who were making theirs. AND they are cool, maaaan.

It wasn't Ben, it was Nick Harmer, bassist for Death Cab. He played some of the bass parts on their second full-length. Nate Mendel did as well. For these shows, though, someone mentioned that Jason Lajuenesse will be playing bass. I haven't confirmed that with him, though. He played bass with Juno when they toured Japan in 2004, and he also played a number of Seattle shows.
