“Awesome” Fact of the Day (for short, say: “A”FOTD)

posted by on January 26 at 8:37 AM

“Awesome”, the official band of Stranger literary events, is currently writing three or four hilarious new songs that will be performed at Chop Suey this coming Thursday, Feb 1 in an event with author/stoner Neal Pollack and sodomist/snowboarder Dan Savage. The songs are about Mr. Pollack and Mr. Savage, though neither Mr. Pollack nor Mr. Savage will hear the songs until the night of the event.

[This has been an “Awesome” Fact of the Day. There will be a new “A”FOTD posted here on Line Out every day until February 1. World-renowned Joni Mitchell stalker Sean Nelson will emcee the event. Doors are at 7 pm. Show is at 8 pm. Chop Suey is at 1325 E Madison Street. Oh yeah, and the whole thing’s free.]

I have an Awesome Question of the Day (AQOTD). I remember back a ways, when the New Bad Things were breaking up, Luke Hollywood was playing in a band called Awesome down in Portland. Is this the same Awesome? I don't see his name at the band website, and this Awesome seems to be based in Seattle.

Gabriel: Different Awesome. This one uses quotes around their name, for starters.

I think there is also a Christian-rock Awesome somewhere. This "Awesome" isn't that one either. (As far as I can ascertain, "Awesome" are Zoroastrians.)

Ah, thanks for the info. I didn't realize the quotes were part of the name. Thought Frizzelle was just going nuts.

And yes, this "Awesome" is the one that drinks each other's pee sometimes.

Hate to quibble, but I heard that was only once. They were just all so disappointed after the Black Lips show, and one thing led to another...
