News Bye Bye Java Jive?

Bob’s Java Jive, Tacoma’s nearly 80-year-old coffee pot-styled building that houses a karaoke bar, was closed indefinitely Wednesday after city inspectors found serious electrical, building and fire violations.

I remember seeing Peter Parker and Polecat there once, when they were doing all-ages shows in the early ’00s. It’s a bummer to lose it. It’s not often that you get to watch a rock show in a giant tea pot.

megan, you should talk to the fine folks in girl trouble regarding the java jive. that place has been their unofficial clubhouse for the past 30 years and they have some serious tales and epic evenings to share.
lamentation and woe! i sang my very first karaoke song in there...it was king of the road. i also wrote "kiss the goat" on the bathroom wall when i was like seventeen. sad to see it go.
