RIP Disco D

posted by on January 23 at 14:42 PM

Ghettotech prodigy Disco D, a perennial (if underground) Seatte favorite who went from rocking the rave scene to producing 50 Cent, apparently committed suicide this morning, after a long struggle with manic depression. The man and his productions will be missed.

I remember seeing him play at I SPY way back. This is really sad.

Holy fucking shit! I must've spent a whole summer (2003?) listening to his "Night at the Booty Bar" mix cd practically non-stop. This is just bizarre and sad.

Great guy. So sad. Struggled for so long. I hope he's found peace. RIP friend.

Wow, don't know what to say. Saw him when Underground Nation brought him to ISpy back in 2000 or 2001, and again when he came to Aristocrats. He was always fun, and in person a great guy to hang out with. Funny as hell.
When he came to the ISpy show he said early on "I'll do it without headphones for an extra $200." The promoters didn't pay up, though everyone was sure he could do it.
He will be sorely missed.

Oh my god! This is so awful. Eric, someone needs to tell Christian. I don't know if I can break it to him. We were just listening to Night at the Booty Bar in December. You guys are gonna have to roll that blunt up in honor of Disco D.

BR, long time no comments. You've been missed. However, you'll note that I bash a particular track, not the man.

Disco D was a cool dude, always down to talk to fans (I was one), and he very obviously loved what he was doing. Just 'cause he's dead doesn't mean every track he ever touched was gold, and my being a fan of his doesn't mean I have to like every track he ever made.

It just wasn't cool to do it the day the guy died. Nuff said.
