I so wanted to love this band, and I may still give them a chance but all I keep hearing is Ace of Base.

Jeff, your ears are busted, man. Here's why:

-Ace of Base employ traditional verse/chorus song structures, Silent Shout has maybe only a couple songs with real choruses.

-Ace of Base draw on some kind of studio-polished euro funk tradition, the Knife work more with 80s electro (dx synths) and techno sounds.

-The Knife's lyrics build a delightfully cohesive (dark) alternate reality—aided by their visual aesthetic, Ace of Base sing about Ankhs and maneaters or some shit.

I could go on...

My ears are busted.

Probably because I have been listening to too much Hot Chip, Soulwax, the Blow and Junior Boys.

"too much Hot Chip, Soulwax, the Blow and Junior Boys."

Hey, that's the same reason my ears are busted!
