The Police are reuniting—“23 years after breaking up amid internal conflict”—to play at the Grammy Awards in two weeks.

Mr. Grandy:
If you don't watch The Grammies then you won't get to see The Dixie Chicks take home all their awards and make a laughing stock out of all the idiots who put them down for telling the truth.
And your statement about not watching The Grammies because of The Police is rather foolish unless you were being sarcastic but something tells me you weren't.
They were a big part of our music history and them doing a reunion song or medley is going to be great.
But, what do I know. One of my favorite albums is No Pussyfooting by Brian Eno and Robert Fripp.
I hate music snobs so much. And that means you, truthseeker, not Frizzelle.
No Pussyfooting is the bomb.
I like the Police, but am not excited about the prospect of seeing them perform in 2007--even if Copeland still is an incredible drummer.
A third note of love for No Pussyfooting.
This will be a preview show. The Police are going on tour this year. I saw them back in 82 or so...The Go Go's opened up (they were on their first national tour). Good show. Don't want/need to go back.
I'm a Police fan and I'll maybe watch the show, but if I do I'm not looking forward to seeing the clash of giant egos. I thought their hall of fame induction set a few years ago was uncomfortable.
The thing is, I probably will watch the Grammy Awards, but c'mon, the Police reunion is just the kind of old whitey bloat that makes industry award shows such an irrelevant drag. "A big part of our music history"?! " "them...doing a medley will be great"?!? The Police are not part of my music history, thank you. I can find my way from punk through dub/reggae to new wave without them via Public Image Ltd.

My comment was directed at Eric Grandy, not Christopher Frizelle.
If you would have been paying attention to Eric's Today on Line Out, 01/30/07, you would have seen his comment, Arrested Development: Another Reason Not to Watch the Grammy Awards.
I'm hardly a music snob but you are entitled to your opinion just like the rest of us.

Eric
You're correct. The show is an irrelevant drag.
Truth is, I can't stand The Grammies.
I mostly watch for the live acts now because most of the awards go to the most popular which I tend to shy away from like many of you on this board.
Regardless of whether you like The Police or not, they still are part of "our" music history even if you don't like them personally. To tell you how much I like them, I have zero of their work.
The moral of the story (at least for me) is that, even though I'm not a Clay Aiken fan, he unfortunately will be part of "our" music history.
Sorry, Eric.
I apologize for getting you so riled up about the grucking fammies.
