“Seriously, fuck Mika in the eye with a knife.”

Mika, recoiling earlier today from a brutal critical beatdown.

So says critic Dom Passantino—among other verbal groin-kicks—in today’s Stylus magazine.

In stark contrast to Dan’s rave here, Passantino obliterated Mika’s Life in Cartoon Motion, handing it an ego-deflating D- grade. I have no strong feelings either about this review or Mika’s music (it ain’t my bag, but it also doesn’t make me want to sever my ears), but I think Mr. Savage may have cause for a rebuttal.

Oh my god, Terry—are you and Dan on opposite sides of the Mika divide??

yes. while parts of grace kelly (namely the chorus) are poppy enough for me, the rest of the song is totally forgetable.

and his other songs on iTunes are well, lame.

Wait... you mean someone actually takes Stylus seriously? The magazine that made Ashlee Simpson's album one of their highest rated records a couple of years back?

As for this passage:
Seriously, fuck Mika in the eye with a knife. Dude caught “Take Your Momma Out” on cable TV two years back, and went straight into Yosser Hughes “Gissa job, I could do that” mode.

Seriously, dude caught an issue of Vice Magazine two years back and went straight into "Gissa job, I could do that mode." Seriously. Dude, pretty original prose there. Haven't seen that kind of "edgy" writing since last month's Do's and Don'ts section.

I don't even have an opinion on this Mika fellow. I just hate shoddy music journalism.

Um, when will "Life in Cartoon Motion" be released in the States? Because, I love Mika (and hate Perez).
