Song Hold Me Closer, Tony Danza

I’m so over “Anything, Anything.” For today, at least. I’ve moved on to Elton John.
I know, it’s an obvious choice as far as Elton’s vast catalog is concerned, but it’s still a classic. It’s not my favorite Elton John song of all time, but I can’t really decide what my favorite Elton John song should be. Sometimes it’s “Levon,” sometimes it’s “Someone Saved My Life Tonight,” and sometimes it’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.” It’s never—never, ever, ever—”Can You Feel the Love Tonight” or “Circle of Life.” Blah.
And let the record show, I liked “Tiny Dancer” way before I ever saw the movie Almost Famous, thankyouverymuch. I grew up in a very pro-Elton household; “Your Song” was my parents wedding song.
“Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting)” will be mine.

Elton ruled the first half of the 70s, but I haven't liked much of anything since. 90% of my favorite songs of his are on his first two Greatest Hits albums.
"Madman Across the Water" is a great album, especially the title track (and I recommend the reissue of "Tumbleweed Connection" for an alternate version of "Madman."
You should check out the live album he did in 71 with just him, Nigel Olsson and Dee Murray. Fucking slays.
Oh, and Bennie and the Jets gets me every time.
"Daniel" all the way.
Then there was that strange spoken word-cum-skronk thing based on the Hubert Selby, Jr.'s "The Willow Tree," that he did with Eno around the time of "No New York" during his "lost weekend" in NYC after breaking up a longtime relationship and kicking sage-sulphate, with John Cale on duelling pianos, Glenn Branca and Robert Fripp on guitars, James "Blood" Ulmer on bass (flexing out there), and Linton Kwesi Johnson dueting with him on "Ebony And Ivory" YEARS BEFORE THE SONG ACTUALLY EXISTED.
I have a great bootleg of Elton's 1976 Madison Square Garden Show with John Lennon. Pretty easy to find in the music blogs. Great show.
I'll have whatever Estey's ingested...
it's funny because you don't drink. and you're not a juvenile.
my favorite elton john song is bennie and the jets, thank you for asking. but saturday night's a good dance number.
remember when built to spill played daniel?
I am too a juvenile! Yeah, okay, I'm not.
I also like "Bennie and the Jets." And "Crocodile Rock."
When did Built to Spill play "Daniel"? Was that at the Showbox? Was it during the encore? I don't remember that...
