Check it Seattle!

Gabriel Teodros’s Lovework is now at the top of a very impressive list. And his track “No Label” is also receiving the attention its beauty deserves.

Wow. Pretty awesome to see Teodros/Massline topping the likes of El-P/Def Jux, Busdriver/Epitaph, and Nas/Def Jam. Go, Seattle.

Also, what the fuck is Kill Rock stars even doing on that chart? I *love* them, but that Macromantics album is album is so, so bleh.

It is also interesting to note that #6 (Surreal and DJ Balance) are on a Portland-based label...not to mention #11 (Macromantics) being on Kill Rock Stars, an Olympia-based label.

not sure why Saturday Knights aren't on there as well, but they probably will be next week, which means the Northwest is quietly starting to dominate the cmj hip hop chart - not hyping, just saying

Gabe's album deserves every bit of that, it's fantastic. Go Massline.

And what's up with that wack article about the scholars? Poorly written and seemingly unresearched. Why print personel tirades as if they're articles?

The scholars may not do it for you personally, and that's fine. But there are a lot of broad claims in the article that should at the very least be substantiated or explained. For example, I find that their music and amazing level of community involvement is far from "toothless" or "vague." Quite the contrary, in fact.
