Mika: “Love Today”

posted by on March 22 at 14:29 PM

Mika’s latest video…

Hm. Pretty bad—the video, not the song. I kinda like the song. There’s an interview with Mika up at Towleroad. He’s coming to America—but he’s not coming out.

Rumors have been circulating about your own sexuality. Are you gay?

I don’t’ really discuss that. I don’t feel I really need to. My music speaks for itself. I have total freedom with what I do musically and the way that I live my life. And I feel really comfortable with that.

Has any straight man in the whole sordid history of straight men ever answered the question “are you gay?” with “”I don’t really discuss that”? No, no straight man has ever answered that question quite that way, Mika.

Dan, please stop listening to music with your dick. We know you'd like to be in a Sanjaya/Mika sandwich, but enough already.

That video is horrendous. Sister should stay in the closet and out of the recording studio.

You should have warned me to remove any and all sharp objects from the room before pressing play. Scissor Sisters, The Pipettes, Mika...you're 3 for 3.

Liking someone just because their gay? Really? He's horrible. Really, really bad.

Mika is fantastic.
But yeah, that video could have been a lot better.
And gay? Him? Never! All straight men shake their arse like that.

I find this song is a little like rough sex. It hurts at first, but after a minute or so you really get into it.

Two thoughts:

#1) Reminds me of Robbie Williams (sound wise). The Brits never cease to surprise me in what they embrace.

#2) Anyone who would question his sexuality is a tool. Plus, what does it matter??

His album (Life In Cartoon Motion) has two interesting and infectious songs (singles "Grace Kelly," "Love Today,") one so-so fun song ("Lollipop,") but the rest is James Blunt-bland crap.

Still, it was a secret thrill to see macho Pete Rose run up to shake his hand after he performed on Leno this week.
