No, Really.

Starbucks is starting a record label. The focus will be on “music that fits within the profile of the ‘Starbucks Experience.’”

Oh, sure, you laugh now. But look what they did for that guerrilla soldier kid.

I love easy listening.

I couldn't believe Starbucks had that Chuck Berry DVD on their shelves. (Hail Hail Rock n' Roll - excellent DVD, by they way.)

Because someone told me they saw a video with Chuck Berry peeing on a woman's face. Is that the Starbucks Experience?

Only if the pee was hot enough to scald her mouth, Trent.

A Starbucks' jazz sampler CD was (at least for a while) the only legitimate source for a live recording of heroin-jazz piano-heir apparent Brad Mehldau covering Radiohead's "Paranoid Android." It's an amazingly flush and rich arrangement for a solo player-- ignore any tracks you may find of him doing this song with a trio/quartet where the virtuosity and musicianship get flattened into the sort of easy-listening you'd expect at Starbucks.

Thank you Napster and the year 2000 for making this available to me without once stepping into a Starbucks. (Just kidding, RIAA!)

They already won something like eight grammies for producing a Ray Charles album (Genius Loves Company), why not start a label?
