This Week on The O.C.

It is with fondness and respect that we bid adieu to Dave Segal, longtime columnist, critic, and musical excavator at The Stranger, as he takes flight to sunny Orange County, California.

Segal was hired this morning as Music Editor of the O.C. Weekly. It won’t be an easy job, but if anyone is up for it, it’s him.

We’ll miss the hell outta his work here at the paper and throughout the Seattle music community.

Best of luck, Dave.

Oh no, Dave! Their gain is our loss. When do you leave?

Use better judgement down there.

Dammit, Dave. You're going to miss the Macromantics show. Way to suck all the fun out of a room.

Congratulations Dave! You will definitely be missed. Thanks for being such a huge supporter of the Northwest electronic music scene.

For future reference, we Californians prefer that outsiders refrain from calling it "cali."

Thank you for understanding.

Does this rule apply to LL Cool J, too?

I don't think so.

If you are referring to the artist formerly known as James Todd Smith III, he is from Queens.

As far as Orange County is concerned, he's as much of an outsider as any coffee bean roaster from Seattle, so to answer your question, yes.

Okay, Pete.
But you're gonna have to be the guy to break it to Mr. Smith. Good luck with that.

As Orange County's leading conservative commentator, Pete Fundy should be the first to warn you that it may not be easy going for you here. We have frequent sunshine, the women shave their armpits, most of us believe Scooter Libby should be pardoned, and all of us believe that rap music should stay in LA County where it belongs.

Good luck. You're gonna need it.

Thanks for the head's up, Pete.
I like a good challenge.

(I realize you may be a parodist, and if so, you're very convincing.)

Pete's joshing you about "Cali," I'm a native and no one here gives a damn about that.

On the other hand, only out of town teevee-obsessed tards refer to Orange County as "the OC." Try to keep that in mind in your new job.
