MP3 CocoRosie, “Rainbowarriors”

Reviewing the new CocoRosie album The Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn for next week’s issue and wishing the whole thing lived up to the promise of “Rainbowarriors.” The song is ethereal fairy-funk goth-hop that sounds like an enchanted rave under a toadstool. The album sort of slips into meandering atmospherics after that, either boldly or blandly, depending on your mood.

i haven't heard adventures yet and i've only heard noah's ark and not la maison de mon rêve. i can't even hear "rainbowarriors" because i'm at work. thanks for the link, i'll listen to it later. but from my experience with noah's ark, cocorosie seem to be able to turn "meandering atmospherics" into a cohesive whole and a great album. maybe give it some time to grow on you? at least, that's what i'm similarly doing with adult.'s somewhat meandering new one.
thats a good point, josh, bc this is already sinking in deeper and deeper. i definitely like but i wish the whole thing was as insanely out-of-bounds as this track.
have you seen the live show? i've never seen cocorosie live but from clips i've seen they appear to take their songs way out-of-bounds live.
i havent seen em live. ill poke around, see if i can find some good youtube to post here.
we caught the Triple Door show last year (or was it 2005?) and they played pretty faithfully to the albums...which, inside the acoustic joy of the triple door, it was pretty much heaven.
I've heard a couple tracks off of ghosthorse, and I'm still pretty excited about it.
you should go to youtube and search for cocrosie covering "turn me on" the video is fantastic. it's them live, and not too far into the set you should recognize the song.
it's totally hot.
