every time i've seen xiu xiu over the years jamie stewart has been a consummate performer and carries through with a complete set of music. but i understand the anticipation of breakdown and crack-up. the long silences xiu xiu is prone to between songs contribute to this. i've seen several lineups and the current one is my favorite. though they may not skip across the stage holding hands like bloc party did after their encore recently at the paramount, nonetheless they seem to enjoy being together. for my money, if you want the most bang for your buck in the department of tension that comes with a lead singer who "might break down in tears at any moment" go out for the dead science.

Sunset Rubdown totally blew me away - that record was my favorite of 2006, and even with those rather high expectations I was floored.
