Tonight Lightning Bolt! Lightning Bolt!

I was talking to a friend at Sunday’s Calla show and asked him what he was excited about seeing next. His eyes got big and he asked, “Do you know Lightning Bolt?” I replied in the negative, and he spent the next five minutes giving me the quick tutorial on the duo (former RISD students, noise-rock consisting of a bassist and drummer, strong aversion to playing on actual stages). They play the Vera Project tonight, and I can’t think of the last time I’ve been this excited about seeing a band I’ve never heard. Here’s a video of the madness yet to be experienced.
Donte, you are in for a fucking treat. Lightning Bolt are simply the best at what they do. You will be rocked hard.
i love lightning bolt. hypermagic mountain is fantastic and it's drummer brian chippendale's appearances on björk's volta that have me the most psyched for that album. but i saw lightning bolt back in '03 at an all-ages club like the vera is, which is best because it brings out the best in tall people who go out of their way to prevent short people/kids from being squashed, and it was just ok. everything was all mumbly and bleeding together, which is actually what makes melt-banana live shows so enjoyable but it didn't seem to work for the brians of lightning bolt. i so wanted to love the live show. i hope they are 100 times better now.
