My favorite thing involving Faith no More is from the Sparks CD of Sparks redoing all their songs (an accidental purchase and probably the best accidental purchase I've ever made). It's a duet with Sparks on "This Town Ain't Big Enough For the Both of Us" and it is phenomenal.
The album was called The Real Thing (it was actually the first album I ever owned on CD). "Epic" was the breakthrough single.
Thanks for posting this!
oh shit, youre totally right levislade. im gonna revise.
"easy," apparently, appeared on european versions of angel dust, their follow-up to the real thing. i dont remember where i first heard it, but it wasnt there--the song wasnt on my copy of angel dust.
angel dust, i have to say, is a terribly underrated gem of early-'90s alt-rock experimentalism and probably the best thing faith no more ever did.
Yeah, I gotta get my hands on a copy of Angel Dust. For some reason that one kinda passed me by, though I had friends who loved it. I will, however, go to the mat for King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime (even though I did skip it when it came up on my ipod this afternoon; I just wasn't quite in the mood).
"epic" had such a great video, between the fish and the exploding piano. and off to youtube i go...
i get king for a day confused w album of the year. one was good, the other was atrocious.
but angel dust, man--"a small victory," "everythings ruined," "midlife crisis"--these are unbelievably smart, intricate songs that sound totally natural, that totally rock. part thrash, part prog, all patton--powerful stuff.
Mike Patton > all.
Yeah, Mike Patton is pretty much the last great hope.
