Hmmm...I may be being cynical here, but how does one just simply "fall out" of a window? Seriously. Thank god for benefit shows, seeing as they seem to be crucial to the existence of dumbass musicians.

No one said that he fell out of a window or off of a rooftop. Are the Lashes still on Capitol Records? If so, it's especially ridiculous that major labels don't provide their artists with anything resembling adequate benefits.

re 3): The lack of medical insurance for artists has long been a sticking point for bands signing deals. When Girls Against Boys tried to insist on health insurance as part of a major label contract in the '90s, they got nowhere. Seriously. So even if the Lashes are still on Columbia, there's doubtfully any help coming from there.

I am a musician and I have insurance. I just make it a point to buy it myself. If you don't have a job that provides it for you, you have to get it yourself, it's true for a musician or a restaurant worker. It sucks and it's money that I'd rather use for other things every month, but that's life in the USA. Anybody can pick up an "emergency only" personal insurance plan from a provider like Regence or Aetna, which will come in handy if you fall out of a window, get hit by a bus or have your appendix explode on you.

Coming from a medical standpoint-any time back surgery is involved that can mean months of rehabilitation meaning his bill could be more than the median cost of a house in seattle. Thank the Gods of Rock that U.S.E is filling in and donating some $. I'll be at the firehouse for sure! Eric you are in our prayers.

Perhaps none of you thought that "news", especially posted from the band itself-- might actually have TRUTH in it. He fell INTO a hole from an unmarked, open HOLE with no barricade in the side of the area in which was gathering with friends....like we ALL do. Why does musician, drunk, party and insurance have anything to do with the fact that a young, talented man's life is FOREVER ruined.

Get a life, or shut up.

I wouldn't say his life is ruined "Get a Clue" Eric is amazing and talented and has his whole life ahead of him, with or without physical hurdles. The fall could have been a lot worse, he could have hit his head and been mentally damaged or worse died. We should all just be so thankful he is ok and keep sending him good thoughts.

its tragic that his happened to the most undeserving guy i could ever think of, but most everything i've heard from his friends is that he has an amazing positive spirit and that he's the same old eric. what a brilliant guy.
so maybe instead of bitching each other out...we could focus our energy on healing eric :)
