Great...more banjo acoustic folky good time shit with bearded hairy people. The whole world's gone old timey country fair. I suppose the Renaissance Faire is going to be hip one day. Oh wait...Joanna Newsom has that covered I guess, never mind. Wake me up when this horrible dream is over.

This band has been around in some form for 7 years. I don't think this is bandwagon jumping, more like popular tastes coming around to what Avett Bros. have already been doing forever.

And who gives a shit about genre/instrumentation as long as the songs are good? Aesthetics really make or break it that much for you? And how is bluegrass related to renaissance faires? Guitars have only been amplified for like 75 years, I think not only does "acoustic" have seniority (by about 4,275 years), but it's also pretty amazing you'd throw all "old timey acoustic music" into one category.

People like you make me mad.

I watched them on Conan and I still didn't like them. I don't get it. Also, Emotionalism is a terrible name for an album. :-(

Ari, are you suggesting that Emoticonism would be a better name?

it aint for everyone, which is fine--most worthwhile things arent. ari, youve said you dont like roots before, so you probably wont get into this stuff, though it certainly transcends "roots."

also, emotionalism is a perfect name for this particular album as it succinctly sums up what the avetts are all about.

I've played Emotionalism twice and have decided that the Avett Bros should play Lollapasnooza with My Morning Jacket, Black Keys, Two Gallants, and other makers of that rootsy, white-bread sound that's great for working out your yawning muscles to.
