In the last three days I’ve received records from two bands that both feature the word “coma” in their name—Girl in a Coma and the Comas. The Comas have released three records already, but Girl in a Coma is new to the scene. AllMusic.com tells me there are already a bunch of other coma bands too: Coma King, Coma Star, Love Coma, Sugar Coma, Coma Lilies, and about four or five bands simply-named Coma.
Looks like “coma” is the new “horse.”

How could you name your band Girl in a Coma?! Just commit to that Smiths reference already and go with Girlfriend in a Coma. These kids, today. Get off my lawn!

I think Natalie Portman's Shaved Head deserves a name recall. Based on the music posted on their myspace page, I'd say that they're getting a lot of talk based on that name alone. Second, does Billy Joel's Interlock Device sound too suggestive or just too old? Man, the Stranger has some shit-ass tunes.

You got it all wrong, "teeth" is the new "wolf" for band names.
Whoa. Weird that you posted this. GIAC have been some dear friends of mine for years. They're pretty huge down in TX, but obviously in Seattle no one has ever heard of them. But they're playing the sunset June 23rd. Seriously, go check them out. They're awesome.
