News Colin Johnson To Book Nectar
posted by on June 13 at 10:30 AM
Colin Johnson, formerly of Chop Suey, has been hired as talent buyer by Nectar in Fremont. His first bookings at that club will be in August. Johnson and the club’s owners plan to update the club’s sound system and revamp the green room, with the hopes of making Nectar a destination for national touring acts as well as a regular stop on the Seattle club circuit. Is Fremont ready for the likes of Clipse and Soulwax? We’ll see…

let's hope they lower that ridiculously high stage
Awesome news for those of us who happen to live in this hippy, frat boy and yuppie-infested neighborhood.
The High Dive has some decent shows, but it'll be nice to have at least one more nightlife option in the neighborhood that doesn't involve backwards hats or dreadlocks.
High stages are AWESOME for short people! Hooray!
Nectar is making moves to become a focal point for locla hip hop like Chop had accidentally become. If they start luring national tours like Chop then they're gonna need to address some minor shortcomings in the sound department I think.
This is a good fit I think.
I was bummed to find only a signing at the Blue Scholars Sonic Boom appearance yesterday. However, CALVIN Johnson has a nice section of shelf devoted to his retrosoul record collection. The choices were mind-boggling; closest I got to a purchase was the Pipettes cd single.
Nectar is dope just as it is. Plane Site, Galen, The Devils - all good shows. Good luck Colin. High stages are cool, even for gumbling 6 footers like me.
high stages are cool.
nectar has had "the shit" potential, and now that obese productions AND colin johnson are working there, boy howdy. nectar is the shit. full-fledged.
whatevs: get over yourself hating on frat boys, dreadlocks and backwards hats. there are cheaper neighborhoods with real problems. maybe you'll find those refreshing.
That's awesome, but that neighborhood will always suck since the college-kids-with-bucks invasion. What is with college kids needing to live in private houses and condos to go to school? Whatever happened to kickin' it college-ass-disco-dorm style, anyway? Quite amazing to note that the average age in that neighborhood has dropped like 20 years in the past 3-5.
Ha ha - another Ballard, not close to anything, no longer worth going to.
Ballard is great.Sure you cant access it very easily but its still a fun place. And so is fremont. Maybe your just getting old or bitter? And congrats to Colin for the quick move, and to nectar for actually spending some money to improve the club.
