Sound Check Free Yourself

3 words that should not go together –
Wireless, Headset, & Microphone.
Could you rock a wireless headset mic?
Is it possible to rock a wireless headset mic?
There are obvious headset microphers in Tommy Lee and Britney Spears.
Besides Peter Gabriel though, is there anyone who can actually pull off wearing a headset microphone?
The good people at Shure say:
Comfort and mobility without sonic sacrifice. The Shure Wireless WH20TQG is a rugged, lightweight, dynamic headset microphone that provides high-quality voice pickup. It fits securely for active mic users with low visibility for stage appearances.
This hands free headset has a cardioid (unidirectional) pickup pattern. This provides greater gain-before-feedback and isolation from ambient noise and other unwanted sound sources. A carefully shaped frequency response includes a voice-frequency presence peak and a low-frequency rolloff to compensate for the proximity effect inherent in cardioid microphones during close-talk operation.
Free yourself onstage.

Rachel Carns from The Need/King Cobra/Twin.
I believe the Motor City Dumbass rocks Wang Dang Sweet Poontang in camo gear with a raccoon tail and a headset mic.

Wang Dang Sweet & Poontang.
Old school Devo could pull it off. :-)
Neil Young used one on the Trans Tour, but I think he stopped using them. i think only drummers who sing should use them.
thom hollman from the usa is a monster rocks one. but he's drumming, keyboarding, and playing organ bass (with his left foot) at the same time, so i think it's excusable
GEZA X. Duh.
The headset mic IS a tricky one.
Devo and Neil Young are ok. They're Devo and Neil Young.
But when the person is hitting that part of the song where they give it everything they got and they reach up and grab the tinie little mouthpiece mic on their headset, it doesn't do it justice.
herbie hancock and the vocoder!
they are #11 among "most unforgivable musical sins". 5 string bass guitars, goatees, and promo pics of bands posing in alleys by a brick wall are #'s 8, 9 and 10, respectively.
"It's My Prerogative"
an addendum to my above post- if you are a nerd it is excusable at best. i.e. herbie, devo, neil young, phil collins, etc. disclaimer: nerds make great music. and please dont tell me neil isnt a nerd. check out his rockin in the free world vid w/ pearl jam for my proof.
Brad,
What are your 1 - 7 ? Any spandex in there?
Bass solos?
zz top, duuuuude!!!!
What is "cardioid" ?
Is that like "cardio" ?
Like my aerobics instructor, she wears a headset mic. I just wish she would stop playing all the Pointer Sisters.
What about all those pop icons..Brittney, Justin, Jessica, Lindsay Madge and Janet..can't lip synch without one..so it seems
Those BlueTooth things are like headset mics.
I can't tell who's crazy and who's not. Everyone is talking to themselves.
Dude, I would totally buy one! That way, if I ever join an adventure metal band, I'd have my hands free to pose with my sword and shield!

Flock of Seagulls
Haven't I seen Trent Reznor wear one before?
Flock of Seagulls. I love Flock of Seagulls.
Space Age Love Song, Telecommunication, And I ran.
Was one of my alltime favorites. Had the vinyl, wore it out.
put it on a saxophone
I was once asked to leave a Graceland show by a staff member of 107.7 The End because I wouldn't quit screaming "You're no fucking Phil Collins!" at some drummer wearing one of these.
Real drummers use real mics. Like Dave Grohl.
completely unexcusable, unless you're dale crover from the melvins
now that i think about it, not only does the drummer of the Melvins use a headset, the drummer for Boris uses one too. meanwhile the drummer from Underoath uses a mic. that's a pretty solid pro-headset argument in my opinion...
