Reporting and photo of John Ackerman by Sam Machkovech. Halfway through the fourth band's set at this year's Rock Lottery, the tall guy behind me decided that this concert, of all concerts, needed his opinion. "I can't believe so...

Dood, Mooter has never gotten the props he deserves. What's weird is that I grew up with that kid in Bumfuck, ID of all places and he was a pop genius even when he was, like, 15. The Southeast Idaho Diaspora rears it's ugly head yet again!

Nice writeup; I'm glad you appreciated Mantastic.'s truly stupid antics. TMPGIS was great, but how about thanking the 10-foot marimba of Erin Jorgensen (which she was still packing up after everyone had loaded out all their gear and I was leaving), or the perfect voice of Jen Wood? Just sayin'.

Rock Lottery was really fun. If you're curious, here's my take on the day's events: http://blog.myspace.com/levifuller

oh shucks, oh gosh, you're really too kind. The Most Popular Girl In School was so fun because everybody was so chill, and so down to have fun. Plus having two gals that can harmonize beautifully and write tear-jerk songs on the spot doesn't hurt, and a 10 foot marimba adds alot. Jeez, poor Erin, she had to lug that thing around to TWO different practice spaces, and then to Neumos. that's three half-hour set-ups and three forty-five minute tear-downs. We were lucky to get Eli who is an awesome drummer and he had some really good song ideas, same with our bass player, who even though he could have slapped and slid all over everything had the perfect pop sensability. i mean jesus, he's the BASS player for Johny Sonic, a FUNK band. Funk band bass players are usually pretty sick. Plus at the last second as he was tuning his bass, the nut busted off and he had to borrow one.

well i don't know i just think it was one of the best experiences of my life, i loved every second, i loved the rest of the band from the second we started jamming out the first song, and i loved hearing people scream for 5 imaginary bands that don't even exist. Thank you Chris Webber, for putting this amazing shindig together! peace
