I did sound for you a couple years ago and had to constantly adjust the levels of your vocals because you (all of you) held the mic as close to your mouth as possible, regardless of whether you were screaming, talking or whispering. I would crank the vocals for talky/sing-songy parts only to have to cut it drastically when you would scream parts. Maybe that's what it's supposed to sound like, violent and ear-splitting but that certainly doesn't make it sound better.

Holding and moving the mic an inch or two away will go a long way in making your performances more dynamic, the overall mix sound better, and anybody who has to do sound for you happier. When the sound person is happy, they mix better; and when the mix is better, everyone is happier.

Dividing the scene with irresponsible taunts will not help you in the long run. See the big picture kid.

To take a teaser story about the venue that doesn't name it and doesn't give its exact location and compare it to a big fat wet slap in the face that screams "Possible Fire Code Violation Over Here At This Address!" is absolutely ri-goddamn-diculous.

If you want to have your small shows in the big city and not ever be found out about it. You don't advertise in the times, KEXP, local TV news, the stranger, the weekyey, myspace, et. al.

And, I'm sorry, everyone knows where Atlas is, and don't pretend it wouldn't take a cop or a fire marshall with half a brain to follow a sandwich board arrow stating "show this way".

If Atlas had waited to be up to code, or hell, if they couldn't wait, booked some fundraising shows up the street at Neumo's or something to get the money to be up to code, y'all wouldn't be pissing your pants over its closure.

IMHO Atlas was never going to strive to be up to code, unless someone smacked some sense into them as the FD has done. There is a right way and a wrong way, you guys were just doing it wrong.

Hopefully this kick in the pants will get you up to code, as Seattle needs more LEGIT intimate all-ages spaces.

Again, stop acting like pricks and just be a legit all-ages venue, or stop advertising your shows in mainstream outlets. Being an illegal all-ages venue purporting to be a viable mainstream all-ages venue only detriments the all-ages scene as a whole.

Or be an illegel UNDERCROUND INCOGNITO club, that only those in the know know about.
