A couple weeks ago, members of Seattle band the Greatest Hits were assaulted while on tour in Harrisburg, PA. According to this story in the Patriot News, Ryan Housner and Romen Herb were pistol-whipped and robbed. Chris Vorman, manager of the bar where the band played, took time to tell reporters that “they were dressed in a way that made it hard to determine if they were men or women.”

Stay classy, Harrisburg!

Not that I think any band getting jumped is cool, but these guys really are the worst band to ever come from Seattle.

C'mon, there are certainly worse bands. Their guitarist is pretty badass! Sure, him and the singer carry most of the band, but the "worst band" title is pretty unfair.

I'm usually not a fan of "schtick" bands, but I respect these guys. They live their gimmick 24/7. Their rawk record collections are *huge*. It's pretty hard to name a rock record they don't own.

Considering how far they've come in the last year, I'd even venture to guess that they might be one of the band's to watch in 2008. If the Lashes, and the Murder City Devils could make it, there is no reason The Greatest Hits will not...

Those guys are actually pretty fun, sorry to hear they got whipped. I see what you're saying, but IMO the concept of "schtik" in Rock and Roll is obsolete anyhow.

Everyone's got a template, their's you've maybe seen before and you're not feelin' it, but it's not any more or less contrived than the Built to Spill or Slint or Pavement or [etc. etc. etc., nothing wrong with those examples, per say] knock offs who's deal is so consumed with not having a "deal" at all, it's the worst schtik imaginable. This making sense? No..? OK.

As long as it's rock n' roll, they're doing something right. If they were total assholes, or if there was pretense invloved, I might change my tune.

Thank you guys for the comments about the beating. Even you, bunnypuncher. It was not fun being attacked on the road, especially when you put so much effort into booking a tour and playing live shows. Luckily, no one was killed but Ryan had to get 8-10 staples in the back of his head. We appreciate all the concern. thats a bummer to hear what happened. especially with ryan. i use to be in a band with him and he's one of the kindest guys i've ever met. definatly didn't deserve it. i'm glad to hear things are shaping up though and everyone's healing. you've certainly got a good tour story out of it, if nothing else. xo.

With as much passion and integrity as these guys hold. They are the next BIG thing already! People just don't know it yet. You'll see! I Love my brother Nils, he's an amazing singer and great songwriter. I really hate that this messed up stuff had to happen to him and his amazing band! Trash Bin Alley Rock Forever! Cheers, Leif

I saw the band last year with the Casualties and again this spring. It's amazing how much they have improved. i hated them last fall, and now I actually like them. I think they'll go far. It's a shame such things happen especially to a band that has worked so hard.

Hey The Greatest Hits are great! They are probably one of the hardest working bands around, and get better every time they play! Their album is a classic as far as Im concerned! Its unfortunate that they had to deal with the bullshit in Harrisburg, but the show went on!!!

That kind of crap should not happen to anyone.... and what the fuck does “they were dressed in a way that made it hard to determine if they were men or women.” have to do with anyfuckin thing? Are you saying it would of been ok if it were two girls getting pistol whipped? Come on.... or is the Stranget now anit-gay or something???? Are you hinting that it was somehow their fault because of the way they were dressed????? THEN WHY THE FU$K bother put that in the article???????

COME ON Eric fuckin-in-the-streets Grandy.... Lets take you picture with Guitar Doug... or are you scared?
