Eh, I don't get why everyone loves the Arctic Monkeys so much.

Although, I do like Voxtrot quite a bit. I'd rather see them at the Croc, though.

I am no longer personally/professionally confused how the Arctic Monkeys had so many American followers who bought into the bewildering British hype.

The Arctic Monkeys'lyrics are witty and ironic; they're also very British and very regional (Yorkshire). Sad to say, Middle America isn't big on wit, irony or putting itself out to understand cultural references.

The Arctic Monkeys are also ordinary and unadventurous, recycling hyper-fashionable post-punk years after the revival lost its novelty, a hoary rock tribute act for those who never got over The Strokes.

It's easy to blame Americans for not mirroring the band's fanbase-phenomenon in Britain because they're not sophisticated or cultured enough, but this is hardly Jarvis Cocker, is it?

Getting by on luck and enthusiasm, they haven't the talent or imagination to take British indie music anywhere new or interesting. They stagnated the second "I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor" stopped, out of ideas, and it's been difficult to watch them become the most overvalued band in the country.

Pretty amusing you guys ragging on this group as unoriginal, considering all the derivative CRAP I see being touted here every day as the latest great new music.
