People probably go more for the "Dig!" antics now than for the music, I'll bet. Which is too bad. BJM's 2nd-4th albums on Bomp! kill, absolutely, kill.

It's like the attitude I'd been hearing about the Black Lips earlier this year - people came for the puking, the freakshow.

If I were stupid, or more accurately more stupid than I already am, I'd show up to a BJM show wanting an incident from Anton. He's known more for that movie now than for the music. $15 to see someone reliably go after the audience is sadly a "nice price" for some.

Personally, I didn't go to the show, I like BJM OK. I love "Dig!", mainly because as a musician, it is tied with "Spinal Tap" as the top movie depicting the experience of being in a band. But where Tap beautifully illustrates the ego, stupidity, and pretentiousness of what being in a Rock band is like, Dig really hammers home the futility, luck, band politics (read: passive aggression), ridiculousness, insanity and passion (or lack thereof) of being in a band.

Actually, I have a question, what does the Nipper think of BJM?

Ari, has anyone explained America's taste? We prefer amateurism and the amusement of tragedy-lite to virtuosity and charisma.

I didn't go and now glad I didn't. I would have been embarassed too. What was wrong with security? Can't they maintain some civility? I know it wasn't a handgun but allowing circus side-show disrespect for a musician should make the club feel a little embarassed. I'd never play there (or Seattle) again, if that was the case.

#8: Security was throwing out every single person who threw something. . .but they can't predict who's going to throw, so it still happened. Security at Neumo's is extremely efficient and an entirely different story than the security at the nightclubs that got arrested. Please note that none of the security guards who got arrested worked at live music venues, just nightclubs that have DJs.

@1 like BJM okay, like most contemporary sike some of it hits close, most is a miss. Generally BJM hits close, tho' they could use shittier production...of the few BJM LPs I own, well, I never listen to 'em. I own too many REAL sike records to bother w/much NU sike stuff. And I still have yet to see that BJM movie...they were stuck @ my pal's house, in Raleigh, NC, for a week right after the film maker abandoned them. oh, and isn't this "look @ crazy" thing why everyone was watching britta last night?
