The Quotable Dave Grohl; or, Like a Roomba

I’ve gushed aplenty about last night’s professional disembowleling of Britney Spears at the VMAs over on Slog.

But thanks to the witty tongue of Dave Grohl, I have the opportunity to re-address the defining event of the 21st century here on Line Out.

Grohl’s golden quote, given to E! News:

“You know those things that you put batteries in and they just vacuum the floor without anyone touching them? That’s what I think of Britney Spears.”

Thanks to Mr. Grohl for recognizing the fundamental facts about Britney Spears: She’s designed to suck, and you don’t even have to pay attention anymore.

Somebody could have added Coup d'Etat and Let's Start a War to their set, but they were too busy playing backup band to Gnarls Barkley.

For what it's worth, left coast, they very likely did play those songs, but MTV did not air them.

The Foos had what MTV called a '2 hour rehearsal' Saturday night, which included their own songs and songs with friends like Cee-Lo, Lemmy, QotSA, etc.

In reality, that rehearsal was what was presented as 'live' on the awards show, with MTV cutting it to bits, thinking we wouldn't notice that the suite segments showed that it was dark outside when the show was running at 5pm Vegas time.

Rumor has it that the Foos suite show will appear in its entirety at some point soon.

You know that guy who did a tribute song to a Police song? That's what I think of Dave Grohl.

Yeah, cause he succeeded in music and what's worse his first successes were over 15 years ago so he's shitty.
