Today In Press Release Inanity

posted by on September 6 at 14:44 PM

Hello! Just wanted to give you a heads up that the new [BAND REDACTED] record, [ALBUM NAME REDACTED] went out in the mail to you last Friday, should be there by now and is slated for release next Tuesday, Sept 11 (the 7th anniv. of nine eleven). The new songs slay in the same ol, fantastic, driving boogie machine [BAND REDACTED] way. Please let me know if a review for [ALBUM NAME REDACTED] will be up soon!

Oh my Christ. Do people seriously not remember when 9/11 happened? HONESTLY??

[Normally I would not redact the name of the band and record, but this record’s probably actually pretty good and it’s not their fault their publicist is an idiot.]

Wow, that's awful. I thought it was bad enough that they were even mentioning it - since it doesn't sound like the album has a goddamn thing to do with 9/11, being all fantastic driving boogie and whatnot - but then they got the number of years wrong? That goes in the Hall of Fame of moronic press releases.

they are not alone, but the gratuitous reference itself is retarded.

Yeah, other than the band being from Brooklyn (clue!), they have NOTHING to do with 9/11. it's a MAJOR release date for records anyhow, and no other press releases have referenced the date because it's totally stupid and ignorant to do so.

Well, they also have that one lyric,"We built those buildings/they fall down and crush us/just let them fall/just let them fall." That could be construed as 9/11-ish.

I know, I know, but that lyric is really faint and only on some recordings of the song. It's for superfans!

wow, Ari, such good writing [redaction] spewer. but thanks for the reminder. i have a Redaction too. (we're so cute[redact] and self-referential aren't we).

rdctn: the song at b-ball camp was NOT "you r the sunshine of my so-called[rdct] Life" it was--- Youe ar my sunshine, my only sunshine/u make me happey, /when skies are grey.

doesn't matter really, both songs have the same sentiment, and they are both in the canon of Muzak to be heard indefinitely, so it's aLL GOOD.

so, what i'm getting from the top down, i could be wrong, is when at a concert, it is good to take notes and remember stuff, and not have a good time like the other normal folk who don't get pid shit for not writing. Analyze the shit out of Cultural experiences Yay!!! Musikal written is lost Ar twdkfjweopgf

Ari,

Me thinks it will be the 6th anniversary of 9/11, not the 7th.

My guess, they did the math wrong. 2008 - 2001 = 7. Or, had the language wrong, depending on how you prefer it phrased.
