You Can’t Keep A Good Blog Down

posted by on September 25 at 15:20 PM

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about the demise of Birth School Work Death, a brilliant music blog that was caught up in how to deal with posting new music. He told the world he was going to take a break.

But it’s back. At least for now.

And if you’re a Ricardo Villalobos fan, or a New Order fan you should go grab the

New Order - Confusion (Ricardo Villalobos White Label Remix)

that’s there now.

Mashups, okay. I simply cannot get into remix-es. I used to like the Red Hot and Blue AIDS help album. It was all these folks - Mixmastermike, Sade, a bunch of other famous DJ oriented people - they remixed Fela Kuti's songs for the album. About 3 yrs later, a homeless dude in Berkeley played original Kuti for me on his boombox. sORRY, BUT THE REMIXES SUCKED THE LIFE OUT OF FELA KUTI. I don't like to be an absolutist, but... I'll just stick with the originals.

Now I think about it, you may be addressing nightclub DJs with your posts, which in that case, if I were DANCING to a remix based on the knowledge you've passed along to said DJs, then I guess it's a different story. If you're writing for the general audience/listener, oh I don't know/care/apologise. And tell Ari, I still love blackberries and swimming in Green Lake, and if she wants to go head to head in a health exam, tell the poopmouth to get in touch.
