So, you may have heard of this little British band called Radiohead? Well, this morning the guys announced that they had a new album, In Ranbows ready for release, and that they’d be letting it loose on the world via their website on Oct 10th.

They’re taking pre-orders online right now for both the downloads and the double vinyl/cd release. Buyers can pay what they wish for just the downloadable audio files or £40 for the files as well as the cds, vinyl, and inserts.

This was the best news last night. It's like Christmas! A new radiohead album, in 9 days! WOW. I can hardly wait. That DiscBox looks great, I can't wait to get it.

not only their music, but also their biz practices... nothing short of revolutionary.

yea, this is a great way to get the music out! If I recall, I think Harvey Danger did this same sort of thing with the last release. I think more bands should start this practice.

It might not be eligible to chart though:

Yea, great promo. U.S.E did it, too. But I get annoyed when journalists or radio djs start their band intro's for huge bands w/ "you may have heard of a little band like ()"...It's like starting a speech w/ "Webster's defines () as..."

Set your own price, huh? Kind of an interesting view of human nature. How many of you are going to set the price for the downloads at $0.00?

A dollar? Five? iTunes' standard ten? Just curious, here. I don't know what I'll do.

i'll be paying the $82, which includes the download, clayton. i imagine that quite a few people will be going this.

I think $10 for the download is a fair price... However it is radiohead so the recordings should prove to be worth far more then that. Now the real question is the tour. Do we look for winter dates our will they wait until summer so they can hit the gorge???

I'm as happy as the sheen on a pool of oil.

An idea for those unsure what to pay.

How about make the price $0, try it out, and if you think it's worth more than the standard iTunes $10, then "buy" it again.

Low bit rate. No artwork. This thing's just a glorified promo. I'd recommend paying five bux max, if that.

Nevertheless, it's an excellent album. I will pay full price for the disc.
