Mars Volta to Frustrate Stoner Fanbase

The Mars Volta have released a new mp3 through their website, but in typical Mars Volta fashion they’re going to make you work for any sort of enjoyment. In order to unlock the song you have to solve a picture puzzle by moving tiles one at a time until you put together the cover of their new album, The Beldam In Goliath, which comes out January 29th. So instead of waiting though a 5-10 minute noise intro to get to the good part of the song, instead you get to spend 5-10 minutes putting together a puzzle for a 1:30 long cover of the Circle Jerks’ “Back Against the Wall.”

If you get tired of trying to solve the puzzle, as I did, you can go listen to it at the Hype Machine.

They often test my patience, but I am a big fan of (most of) their music. The cover is actually pretty awesome.

Does anyone know if that Circle Jerks show in January will be good? It looks like a decent lineup.

Ministry in March? $40 to watch Al?

@3 - My head almost exploded when I saw that show was $40. I only really want to go to see Meshuggah, but that's too much damn money.

It looks like most of the Showbox Sodo shows are crazy spendy. Anyone know why that is?

Yah!
Mars Volta are one of those bands whose recorded catalog pretty much sucks, but are able to pull the occasional masterpiece out of their ass.
Now live, they are a whole different story. If only I'd had some mushrooms...

Danzig butchering a Circle Jerks classic being passed off as a Mars Volta song? No thanks.
