#6: “Father Christmas” by the Kinks

posted by on December 6 at 13:00 PM

It’s December 6th, time for the sixth song in our musical advent calendar.

It’s as tasty as chocolate and better than a excerpt from the bible, it’s the Kinks’ “Father Christmas.”

Thank you! My favorite Christmas song. Just the right touch of seasonal nastiness.

SO GOOD. I love the Kinks, and I love how well they always played in decades that didn't belong to them.

I don't know what it was about the 70's England, but Slade, The Boys, Keith Richards, Wizzard and probably a dozen or so others I can't think of (I'm ignoring Paul and John's hits) all had great Christmas singles.
