I thought I remembered some story that floated around about Hank Jr. not being a legit son of Hank Sr. That's probably why he sucks. And then suck begot suck.

Hank Jr. didn't know his father, just coasting on the name like his son is. Musical ability can be in you're genes, but greatness is up to you.

In fairness though, Hank Williams Jr. earned his mark on outlaw country in the 70's. Not my favorite genre, but he's more legit that those that grew up with his NFL spots might realize.

Hank III, um, well, not at all a fan and I'm sure no one cares to hear me expound on it, so I'll leave it there.

Shelton (Hank III) has been playing drums for metal/loud rock bands since at least the early 90's, so this is nothing new. So what? I doubt he expects traditional country fans to like it.

Fuck yes, I'm glad Mike Williams is in another band! And I bet Hank III is really bummed that you guys don't think his new band would go over well at Club Pop or whatever.

Also, has Hank Sr. been on a postage stamp yet? Because he should be.

Starbird, no.

Dougsf, Hank Jr is coasting on his father's name? Hardly. How many Country Entertainer of the Year awards did he win? How many hits does he have? How many records has he sold? He's got a lot of great great songs. Hank Sr has great songs. Hank III has got some good country and rock/metal songs. Don't judge a guy because of MNF. Listen to his catalog, lotsa gold in there.

If anyone is coasting on the Hank Williams name, it's Sr. When's the last time you heard anything new out of that guy that his son didn't make happen? Exactly.

#11 - Hank Jr. broke into the music business covering his dad's songs, even had his first hits in the 60's doing a Hank Sr. impression and cut the LP for a biopic on his father (his father's material). I don't think it's crass to do that or anything, even though they weren't alive at the same time (a year or two?), it still his father, but just the same, that was how he clawed into the biz.

Like I said though, I think he earned his place in country in the 70's (and still was charting in the 80's), but I think he owes his breaks to his namesake. Not a huge outlaw fan, but I'll concede that he played a huge part in that era. He didn't lack talent.

#10 - Nice try, but don't right it off like "hipsters don't like Hank III fuck them!", his punk set he used to do was bad So.Cal '92 stuff that sounds like old dudes who wear full pads at the skatepark would listen to, and his country stuff is just irritating. Makes Shooter Jennings look like Buck Owens in comparison.

#12 - Don't get me wrong, I don't really like most of Hank III's stuff that I've heard where he sings and/or plays guitar. I was really just trying to say that most people posting here wouldn't know the bands Arson Anthem are referencing if they punched them in the face.
