also, rye rye is the vocalist, but the track is by dj blaqstarr. i'm not sure if she is m.i.a.'s protege, i would be surprised if they even knew one another.
I knew I heard a B-More accent.
I like it OK.
I'm watching the popularity of 808 dance tunes made in the hood with a measure of suspicion though.
I thought that was awesome.

Rye Rye opened up for M.I.A. on a lot of her most recent tour dates, and raps on the "Paper Planes" remix that can be heard on M.I.A.'s myspace. So I'm pretty sure they know each other.
Blaqstarr will be playing Sing Sing on Feb. 15th.
I saw this video a while ago because PerezHilton blogged about Rye Rye and linked to it. Every now and then he finds some good stuff; I like this track.
Its Diplo/Dave Taylor (aka Switch). Not sure who this DJ Blaqstarr is but the beats are pure Mad Decent.

sorry for the confusion on the m.i.a. / rye rye link. i thought you were referring to miss cherry when talking about m.i.a.'s protege. i forgot that blaqstarr / rye rye played with m.i.a. at taxlo in baltimore a few months ago. i was also unaware of the guest spot on the m.i.a. remix. my bad.
