Mike Patton to Make More Strange Growling Noises

Dude, everybody all stoked up for ID5? Looks like a real thriller. Did you hear all of those gnarly growls that the zombie/chud/mutants make? Those are courtesy of none other than Mike Patton, the vessel for some of rock music’s most interesting and occasionally irritating vocal stylings. I can’t wait for the part of the movie where Will Smith and the “dreaded creatures” finally come face to face, and Will Smith is all like,

“I’m the last man alive, I am legend, leave me alone!”

and the zombies are like, “Dude, we live here now too,”

so Will Smith is like, “But I’m the only human left, you guys don’t count,”

and Mike Patton gets all pissed off and starts going, “You want it all, but you can’t have it!”

and then he impales Will Smith with a giant spear.

not to be a hater (ha), but mike patton is the weakest link in any mike patton related project. the only exception is bjork's 'medulla', in which there is no strong point.

wait, I think I got it. ID5 = sequel to Independence Day? weren't they calling that ID4?

maybe not necessarily the strongest link in his various projects, but I think most of them are pretty badass. To me, at worst, he is the Robert Horry of experimetal.

that youtube footage of him ripping on Wolfmother is pretty funny too.

I think you mistakenly switched "interesting" and "irritating."

I feel bad ripping on Patton, as several of my friends totally love the guy and they otherwise have fine taste in music, but personally, yes I find him more often irritating than interesting. Although, my bandmates played me some Moonchild stuff and I liked that quite a bit. He did a good job on the Dillinger EP too.

Mike patton is an innovator, he's prolific and gifted.
Not everything frank zappa ever did was worth a shit, but the stuff that mattered mattered alot.
