I mean, in some ways, it’s unfair to isolate the vocal track from the rest of the song, because of context and whatever. Many singers I know have to leave the room when their lead vocal is singled up in recording. But then, most singers are not David Lee Roth. And most songs are not “Running With the Devil.” And most MP3s are not just David Lee Roth’s soloed up lead vocal performance from one of the greatest freeway rock songs of all time.
