Ride the “Vapour Trail”

“Vapour Trail” by Ride came on when I was snowboarding this weekend. The run was long, and with nearly 20 inches of new snow, every turn blew fresh, icy powder into my face. My affection for this song grew massively during that run.

I’ll probably never be able to replicate that experience. That long run with fresh powder, and the lifting sound of this track coalescing in beautiful harmony. But I’ll keep thinking about it all season long.

Here’s the original video from 1990.

Go here for sound samples and to here a haunting cover by Trespassers William.

nice one. 'nowhere' is still one of the most underrated albums from the early 90's and i don't understand why.

good call Terrry. Vapour Trail is gorgeous.

on a similar note, be sure to check out the new artist on DC Recordings called The Oscillation. Search on YouTube for their excellent single, Head Hang Low. you'll find it's in the same league as Vapour Trail/Ride songs except they/he uses vintage synths and drum machines. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Fantastic band. "Seagull" still holds up surprisingly well, too.

Ride are often name-dropped by people who should know better, but "Vapour Trail" is one of the best songs in human history.

A stone-cold classic. Ah, the memories...sophomore year in college was pure bliss.

The drums in this song are so goddamn good.
