i don't think one could say jazz ended at any point - it could be argued that a type ended at 19xx, but it continues in different forms. hip-hop, also, continues and will always continue in different forms. i would argue that, as far as music genres are concerned, hip-hop changes and adapts faster than most other types of music (if not all types).
