I wanted to clarify how the participants are chosen (for #1 and others)

The first step is to always ask former participants, friends of the Rock Lottery and other members of the music community (and now SLOG readers)to suggest potential participants.

From this giant list of potential musicians, a small committee will narrow it down to 25 participants. This list of 25 musicians will be a collection of people with different musical tastes, cultural backgrounds, experience, success & popularity, and technical ability, that in some way reflects the local music community as a whole, and brings together facets of that community that would not normally communicate.

This event has always been a scene building exercise... From this list, any possible combination should create a unique, varied and interesting band for us to see...
