Line Out - Comments on Blue Scholars Rock Fresh, South by South West

Before I go babbling about any other SXSW stuff, I think it's important that I make one thing clear--Blue Scholars killed it. Killed the mike, killed the floor, killed the room, killed a small percentage of Austin. A near-capacity crowd...

yo, i have all that akron shit, even the weird solo stuff from the main guy, and i have to say that collective sure thinks it gets a pass to be prolific. UNDESERVED. good band, but god they have so many half-fleshed ideas.

glad to hear austin liked scholars, but totally not surprised. a festival where people are gettin all wet over cadence fucking weapon is of course the right place for scholars to kill. i imagine BS's performing game is about as good as any group in hiphop by now, they've been doing so many shows. plus, that bourgie-ass activist-hop is right there to sell (although i do think it's worth beliving in), and they've made the selling into a science. and their cience is TIGHT

Didn't see any Seattle acts at SXSW. Too many great acts that may never play here to spend time on performers that I can easily see (or have seen) at home.
