The song goes something like:
Making it/This time in life I’m making it. Oh oh/Oh no. Making it/This time in life I’m making it.
That is all I can remember. Who sang these words? What’s the name of the song? It was a one-hit wonder around 1980.
That was Makin It by the American Werewolf himself, David Naughton.

You'll probably remember the song more than the short-lived sitcom of the same name.
Also featured in the cinematic masterpiece MEATBALLS during the dance scene.
Aw, someone beat me to it.
I have the 7" single around here somewhere. It was out in early 1979 if I recall correctly. I was in 8th grade at Jane Addams Junior High.
He was in the Dr. Pepper commercials around the same time. "I'm a Pepper, he's a Pepper," etc.
Also, he invented "The Wave".
Also featured in "Detroit Rock City"!!!
And Charles...for asking this question and not performing a simple Google search...

PS--I had this on a K-Tel album from back in the day. Sometimes cheese can be awesome.
