GABE

posted by on April 10 at 18:36 PM

Gabe Mintz played his solo set of rattling and smiling scrawl at the Comet last night. The songs flail him and throw his head around. He sounds great live. There’s something about the way he plays and sings. A gangly call. Dirty, but on. Loosed, but unleashed only to the songs.

Trent--if these are pictures from the show, it was not an "acoustic" performance...unless that electric guitar wasn't plugged into an amp.

Thank you Tiktok. You're right. I meant acoustic as in solo. Without a band. Just Gabe playing by himself. I change it. I've been thinking acoustics all day because of the earlier post with Robin about pickups.

Yes this was a great show,
Gabe has a great voice and some fun, carefree and poetic lyrics He played for a small group of friends so it was intimate.
BTW I caught the first band Venus Verse, they really caught my ear, the cure, Blonde Redhead, The Cranes, come to mind.
They had a near perfect set with no drum machine difficulties although they seemed a bit stage shy still, but have a great set of tunes
