I highly recommend a recent MVD-distributed three DVD set titled "Don't Forget The Motor City" which has like a dozen Starr videos from the 70s, as well as tons from Mary Wells and others. Much of it is either disco-era soul gems or just before that period. Often the videos are absolutely horrible, low budget affairs ("Love Machine" by the Miracles is as awful to watch as the song is paradise to listen to) but the music is mostly all aces. What I love is how ordinary-looking many of these artists are, when their music is so gorgeous, and the videos are made without even the talent to obfuscate this.

DJ Riz brings love and brotherhood to every gig he plays. Really one of the best DJs in the Northwest.

His sets on KEXP, Expansions or otherwise, are also wonderful. Really a special treat any time he enters the booth.
