Disagree on Santogold being an MIA ripoff. That album is great! It reminded me of everything from the Breeders to Siouxsie with a little bit of Susan Cadogan. It was all over the map in a very good way. I think it will have an even better shelf life than MIA.
dont hate on santogold cuz she was part of the beast. she quit that gig to put out the incredibly underrated Res, wheres the love?
lol @ o's and 1's
Thank you! Pass it on.
@2:
i used to work for bmg/warner and they couldn't give copies of the res album away. it's pretty good, shoulders above similar music from that time period. try to follow my train of thought here: res's 'how i do' is produced mainly by doc, who notably produced esthero's debut album, which included a new version of 'country livin'', which was originally by goodie mob and which i dissed a few months ago here, which drew criticism from you. i actually bought a copy of the goodie mob single this past weekend (acapella + dead prez on the b-side?), so i officially take back my criticism.
@1:
the santogold album is a bore bore bore! the middle is a samey desert of proto hipster rock on ambien. swap out the vocals for any current teenage music industry starlet and hipsters would be hating on it, yet it would be essentially the same album. 'creator' still bangs, but wow, talk about a single-loaded rushed-to-be-released album.
