Love, love that Lightning Seeds record...
Oh I'm so happy to hear that. I had it on cassette back in the day, then just tracked down a used CD copy last week, and god it's great.
I've never heard Lightning Seeds.
However, "Hot Love" from Cheap Trick's first album is the greatest rock-n-roll song ever recorded.
Also, thanks for including something from One on One, a criminally overlooked album.
"If You Want My Love" is one of Cheap Trick's greatest, I think, but I have no particular love for One on One as a whole. I intensely dislike their cartoon-porn material ("She's Tight," Woke Up With a Monster). And then there's "The Flame"...
Does the great stuff still manage to eclipse the crud? The great stuff is greater than the crud is cruddy, so I imagine so...
I, too, listen to Pure about a thousand times a day (give or take) when the weather gets nice like this.
Also, Waiting for the Great Leap Forwards by Billy Bragg.
I luuuuv "She's Tight", but I'm like that. That other stuff you mention didn't happen till years later.
I made the mistake of buying The Doctor at some point. Yikes!
I'm throwing on the first album as soon as I get home.
What, no, "Another Girl, Another Planet?"
David Schmader, have you lost your mind?
im digging Nick Lowe "Breaking Glass" @ the moment
i'll find that Lightning Seeds joint, i aint hip
Schmader let's party!
If I could get into a time machine back to 1979, and transform myself into a hot babe, Robin Zander and Tom Petersson would be my ultimate three-way.
@10. Weird. Bun E. Carlos and Rick Nielsen are mine. Both wearing just suntan pantyhose so you can see their junk all squished up.
Bronkitis: Marry me.
Fastbacks' "In The Summer" needs to be on that list. In fact, replace "Field Day" with the entire "Very, Very Powerful Motor" disc and you might be on to something.
